UNIQUES begin with archival translations of graphite drawings into pure pigment prints. They offer the complete tonal range in an exquisite level detail true to the original drawings, but without the distracting shine and smear-vulnerability of graphite. The pure carbon pigment is a warm and inviting dark reminiscent of historic inks and chalks. Each print was produced by Ernest Burden III  in collaboration with me in our home studio. I am involved at every stage of production. After the transfer print is created the forms are hand colored, and some are developed fully with additional imagery added spontaneously.
